What happens during a lesson?
During an Alexander lesson your teacher is will place their hands on your body where specific muscle groups cross to
promote the lengthening and widening of tightened shortened muscles. This sends a ‘stimulus’ to your system, which
starts the process of re-educating the Neuro-muscular system.
You will feel a sense of calm as you feel sensations of your
muscles releasing. The Alexander Technique is very subtle and gentle, and to the onlooker it
appears as if not much is happening.
There is no need to wear any special clothing or footwear during your lesson and your teacher
will work with you in a chair or sometimes on a couch.
